Study Abroad Consulting in Surat
Study abroad consulting at Global Careers
Global Careers is a study abroad consultancy in Surat, founded in 2000, that guides students through the whole process of studying overseas: choosing the country, course and universities, planning the tests, preparing applications and essays, applying for scholarships and obtaining the student visa. We work with undergraduate and Master’s applicants, at our office or online.
We recommend universities for fit, programme quality, cost, scholarships and career prospects, not for rankings alone. Students guided by us have been admitted to universities including the University of Pennsylvania, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, LSE, LBS, NUS, NTU and SMU, and we have assisted with more than 2,800 student visas.
Country guides: USA, UK, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Ireland, Netherlands.
Related: MS, MBA and PhD admissions, student visa guidance, profile building and SAT, GRE and IELTS coaching.
Is studying abroad the right decision?
For some students it is. For a growing number, a university in India is the better choice. Studying abroad costs a great deal and depends on things the family cannot control: visa rules, exchange rates and the job market in another country.
So our first conversation is not about which country. It is about what the student should study, what the family can afford without strain, and whether the student is ready to live alone. If the answer points to India, we say so, and we guide those applications too: see Study in India.

Career fit, college fit, destination fit
A shortlist of universities is the last step, not the first. We begin with the student: what they are suited to, which course fits, what the family can afford and where the degree leads. The shortlist follows from that: the course, the fit, the cost, the scholarships and the prospects after the degree.
All our enrolments to date have come through references from families we have worked with.
How we work, step by step
Undergraduate applicants usually begin in Class 9, 10 or 11. Master’s applicants begin 12 to 18 months before the intake. Each step below is done with the student and the parents.
1. Course
We settle what the student should study first, with career counselling and the Career Fit assessment where needed.
2. Country
We compare countries on the course, the total cost, the chances of admission and the rules for working after the degree.
3. University shortlist
A list of ambitious, realistic and safe choices, with an application calendar for each.
4. Profile
Projects, research, internships and activities planned to support the application.
5. Essays and recommendations
We guide the student through the drafts of the essays and the statement of purpose. The writing is the student’s own.
6. Scholarships
We identify the scholarships each university offers and help with those applications.
7. Student visa
Documents, financial paperwork and mock interviews.

For an undergraduate degree abroad, Class 9 or 10 is the right time, because universities look at the record from Class 9. Class 11 is still workable. For a Master’s, start 12 to 18 months before the intake.
We start with the course and with the student’s record, budget and plans after the degree. From that we build a list of ambitious, realistic and safe choices, and we explain the reason for each one.
Yes. We identify the scholarships a student can apply for at each university and help with the applications. Scholarships are decided by the universities, and no consultant can promise one.
Sometimes. Some universities are test-optional for the SAT, and some waive the English test for students taught in English. The rules differ by university and change from year to year, so we check each one on the shortlist.
No. Admission is decided by the university and the visa by the embassy or consulate. Our work is to make the application as strong and as accurate as it can be.
