Psychometric and Aptitude Test in Surat: The psychometric test Assessment
What is our psychometric test?
Our psychometric test is the aptitude, interest and personality assessment developed and used at Global Careers in Surat. It looks at three things: what a student is interested in, what the student is able to do, and how the student prefers to work. Dr. Manish Mittal and his team then go through the results with the student in person, and Dr. Mittal writes the report himself. It is not generated by software.
Our principle is simple: science provides the evidence, experience makes the decision. A test score should never decide a career on its own. The psychometric test gives us evidence. The recommendation comes from putting that evidence together with the student’s marks, favourite subjects and goals, and a conversation with the student and parents.
Where the psychometric test belongs in your consultation
A general career and education consultation can cover school, board, college, destination, visa, gap-year or transition questions without automatically requiring an assessment. We recommend the psychometric test when the central question is choosing a college major or career direction.
The psychometric test, live verification and counselling form our recommended foundation for Profile Building and guided career exploration. The report helps identify around 3 to 6 broad career directions to investigate. Courses, discussions and practical experiences then help refine the choice and guide relevant projects, research or internships.
The three parts of the psychometric test
- Interests. This part is based on Holland’s RIASEC model, which is used in career guidance around the world. It shows which of six areas a student is drawn to: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional.
- Aptitude. Timed tasks with right and wrong answers that measure abilities such as verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning.
- Personality. Questions based on Jungian type dimensions that show how a student prefers to work: for example alone or with others, with facts or with ideas, to a plan or by adapting.
The three results are read together. An interest without the ability to support it is not a career recommendation, and neither is an ability the student has no wish to use.
How the psychometric test differs from a free online career test
- Results are verified in person. A counsellor presents the results to the student in a live session and checks them against what the student says. This corrects for rushed answers, misread questions and answers given to please someone else.
- The report is written by Dr. Mittal. It is not an automatic print-out and it is not written by AI.
- The results are verified in person. Dr. Manish Mittal and his team go through the results with the student before anything is discussed with the family.
- It is one input, not the verdict. The results are weighed together with marks, favourite subjects, the student’s goals and the family’s circumstances.

Who should take it
The psychometric test is primarily used with students in Grades 9 to 12, with earlier guidance from Grade 8 where subject choices require it. It is also used selectively with college students after understanding their career-direction or major-choice needs. The best time is well before a decision, so that the student can explore what the results show:
- at the end of Grade 8 for IGCSE and ICSE students, who choose their subjects for Grades 9 and 10;
- in Grade 9 or 10, before choosing a stream and board (see stream selection in Grades 9 and 10);
- before choosing IB Diploma subjects, which have to match the intended degree;
- in Grade 11 or 12, before choosing a course and college (see course and college selection in Grades 11 and 12).
Students in Surat verify their results at our office. Students elsewhere do it on a video call. See how online career counselling works.

Frequently asked questions
The psychometric test is Global Careers’ own assessment, with three parts. Interest is measured with Holland’s RIASEC model (the Holland Code), personality with Jungian type dimensions, and aptitude with timed reasoning tasks developed by Global Careers.
No test can, and no test should. A good assessment narrows the field and gives the student, the parents and the counsellor reliable evidence to discuss. The decision is made in the counselling session, with the family.
We generally recommend the psychometric test for Grades 9 to 12, and from Grade 8 where subject choices require earlier guidance. It is also used selectively with college students after understanding their needs. Starting before a major decision gives the student time to explore the findings.
The assessment is taken online. The results are then verified with the student in a live session, at our office in Surat or on a video call.
No. Dr. Manish Mittal and his team verify the results with the student, and he writes the report himself.
An introductory session with our team, in which we explain how our counselling works, is free. A consultation with Dr. Manish Mittal is paid and is by appointment only.
Call +91 99250 33239 or +91 95105 33239, or use the contact page. Our office is at S8, 3rd Floor, Central Plaza, New City Light Road, opposite St. Thomas School, New City Light, Althan, Surat, Gujarat 395007.
The fee depends on the package, because the test is always followed by an in-person review of the results and a written report. It is shared at our New Citylight office in Surat, or after a first consultation with Dr. Manish Mittal.
A well-built test gives useful evidence, but no score should decide a career on its own. Results can be skewed when a student answers the way they think they should. This is why every result at Global Careers is checked with the student in person before the report is written.
No. General questions about school, board, college fit, a destination, a visa or a gap year do not automatically require assessment. We recommend the psychometric test for major or career-direction decisions and as the foundation of our Profile Building and exploration approach.
The psychometric test is followed by live verification and counselling. The report narrows the starting discussion to around 3 to 6 broad directions. Guided exploration tests these possibilities in practice, and the developing direction informs meaningful projects, research, internships and other profile work.
Yes, on request. Dr. Manish Mittal is a certified practitioner of the MBTI® and Strong Interest Inventory® assessments, and offers these official assessments separately. They suit working professionals who want to understand their preferences at work. For students, we recommend the psychometric test. It brings interests, aptitude and personality together, so it gives a fuller picture for choosing a stream, subjects or a course. It is also the more affordable option.
Come with questions. Leave with a plan.
