Study in Singapore: Admissions, Scholarships and Student Visa

Study in Singapore

Studying in Singapore: how we help

Global Careers guides students from Surat and across India on studying in Singapore: choosing the course and universities, preparing the applications, applying for scholarships and preparing the Student’s Pass application. Singapore’s autonomous universities, including NUS, NTU and SMU, admit a limited number of international students each year, so an application needs strong marks and careful preparation.

Our advice begins with the student: the right course first, then the right country and university. For how we work, see study abroad consulting. For the visa, see student visa guidance.

Studying in Singapore: the essentials

  • Applying: directly to each university. The three most applied to are NUS, NTU and SMU.
  • Intake: the academic year begins in August.
  • Length: three to four years for a bachelor’s degree, one to two years for a Master’s.
  • Indian boards: NUS considers applicants with the Indian Class 12 (CBSE or ISC) who have a good pass in five subjects including English, and does not ask them for the SAT or ACT. It assesses academic and non-academic achievements together.
  • Student’s Pass: applied for online with the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), at least two months and not more than three months before the course begins. The processing fee is S$45.
  • Work during study: students at the listed institutions, which include NUS, NTU and SMU, may work up to 16 hours a week during term, and during vacations, without a work pass.

How we work with students applying to Singapore

Places for international students at NUS, NTU and SMU are few, and the competition for them is strong. We advise applying there alongside universities in another country or in India, and we prepare the student for the essays, tests and interviews that some programmes set.

Students guided by Global Careers have been admitted to NUS, NTU and SMU.

The full process, from the choice of course to the visa, is described under study abroad consulting.

Frequently asked questions

Each university has its own online application, with Class 10 and 12 marks (predicted or final), an account of activities and achievements, and for some programmes an essay, a test or an interview. Requirements differ between the three, so we check each one.

Not for applicants with the Indian Class 12 from CBSE or ISC. NUS asks for a good pass in five subjects including English. This was the position on the NUS admissions website in October 2026.

Students of the listed institutions, including NUS, NTU and SMU, may work up to 16 hours a week in term and during vacations. To work after graduating, a work pass from the Ministry of Manpower is needed.

Tuition differs by university and course, and living costs are high. We prepare a cost sheet for every university on the shortlist: tuition, living costs, insurance and travel for each year of the degree. Plan on meeting the full cost without income from part-time work.

No. Global Careers guides students on admissions and student visas only. Permanent residency and work visas are immigration matters decided by the government of Singapore, and the rules change often. Please check the official government website.
