Study in Ireland: Admissions, Scholarships and Student Visa
Studying in Ireland: how we help
Global Careers guides students from Surat and across India on studying in Ireland: choosing the course and universities, preparing the applications, applying for scholarships and preparing the study visa application. Ireland is an English-speaking country in the European Union, with universities such as Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin.
Our advice begins with the student: the right course first, then the right country and university. For how we work, see study abroad consulting. For the visa, see student visa guidance.
Studying in Ireland: the essentials
- Applying: students from outside the European Union usually apply directly to the university’s international office. Master’s applicants apply to each university.
- Intakes: September. Some Master’s courses also start in January.
- Length: three to four years for a bachelor’s degree, one year for most Master’s degrees.
- Language: courses are taught in English.
- Visa: a study visa, followed by registration with the immigration authorities after arrival.
- After the degree: the Third Level Graduate Programme lets graduates of Irish universities stay for a period to look for work.

How we work with students applying to Ireland
Most Indian students who choose Ireland go for a one-year Master’s, often in computing, data, finance or pharmaceutical science. We look at whether the course content matches the student’s first degree and what its graduates have gone on to do, not only at the length and the cost.
The full process, from the choice of course to the visa, is described under study abroad consulting.
Frequently asked questions
Directly to each university, with degree transcripts or Class 12 marks, an English test, a statement of purpose and references. Offers for popular Master’s courses are made as applications arrive, so early applications do better.
Graduates can apply to stay under the Third Level Graduate Programme. How long depends on the level of the degree. The current terms are on the Irish Immigration Service website.
Tuition differs by university and course, and rent in Dublin is high. We prepare a cost sheet for every university on the shortlist: tuition, living costs, insurance and travel for each year of the degree. Plan on meeting the full cost without income from part-time work.
No. Global Careers guides students on admissions and student visas only. Permanent residency and work visas are immigration matters decided by the government of Ireland, and the rules change often. Please check the official government website.
