Study in Dubai: Admissions, Scholarships and Student Visa

Study in Dubai

Studying in Dubai: how we help

Global Careers guides students from Surat and across India on studying in Dubai: choosing the course and universities, preparing the applications, applying for scholarships and preparing the UAE student visa application. Dubai has branch campuses of British, Australian and Indian universities as well as local institutions, so the first task is to check the standing of the campus and the degree it awards.

Our advice begins with the student: the right course first, then the right country and university. For how we work, see study abroad consulting. For the visa, see student visa guidance.

Studying in Dubai: the essentials

  • Applying: directly to each institution.
  • Where: many institutions are branch campuses of universities from the UK, Australia, India and elsewhere, alongside universities based in the UAE.
  • Check the licence: private higher education in Dubai is regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). Confirm that the institution and the programme are licensed, and how the degree is recognised in India.
  • Intakes: September, and January at many institutions.
  • Visa: the institution sponsors the student’s residence visa.

How we work with students applying to Dubai

Families from Gujarat often prefer Dubai because it is close to home. The question to ask is whether the degree from the Dubai campus is the same degree, taught to the same standard, as on the university’s home campus, and whether the family would do better with that university’s main campus or an Indian university at a similar cost. We compare these for the individual student.

The full process, from the choice of course to the visa, is described under study abroad consulting.

Frequently asked questions

Directly to the institution, with Class 12 marks or degree transcripts and an English test where required. Offers are usually quick.

It depends on the institution and the programme. Check the KHDA licence, the accreditation of the parent university, and whether the degree certificate is issued by the home university. Ask about recognition in India if the student plans to return for further study or a regulated profession.

Tuition differs widely between institutions, and rent is a large part of the cost. We prepare a cost sheet for every university on the shortlist: tuition, living costs, insurance and travel for each year of the degree. Plan on meeting the full cost without income from part-time work.

No. Global Careers guides students on admissions and student visas only. Permanent residency and work visas are immigration matters decided by the government of Dubai, and the rules change often. Please check the official government website.
