A summer school is a short programme run by a university in which school students try out a subject, work on projects and experience college-style teaching. This page lists summer programmes in India and what each one offers.
A summer school does not guarantee admission to any college. Its value is that the student tests an interest before choosing a course, and has something real to write about in an application. What a summer school is good for
- Testing an interest. Two weeks of economics, design or robotics tells a student more than any brochure.
- Seeing how a university teaches. Seminars, projects and deadlines, before the student commits to four years of it.
- Something real to write about. A project finished there can become part of an application, if the student took it seriously.
A certificate on its own is worth very little. Choose a programme for the subject, not for the name on the certificate.
